Singers who cant sing ?

Looking at the Ian Dury thread - gank made the point that Ian Dury was not a good singer.
There have been other legends that I have enjoyed,and admired and yet they also were not classically good singers. I still say they can be considered Legends.
My wife always says that Bob Dylan sounds like he is singing with gravel in his mouth. yeah maybe - but who would disagree that he is still a Legend. other better singers have covered his songs, and had hits - but I still prefer the gravel version.
Bruce Springsteen is not a classic voice, but live he is incredible and again others (with better singing voices) have successfully covered Springsteen songs and had hits.
Ian Dury may not reach the level of Legend, but he was widely admired - could others have hits with covers of his songs - I cannot think of any, others may know.
What artists do you admire that you would not consider to be good singers ?

Bet Killing Joke loved Hawkwind (John Lydon certainly did).

Well that and the incessant vaguely psych countryish noodling.
Our equivalent were Hawkwind who were streets ahead in weird pounding brutality which suited this country a lot better. The singing wasn't all that much better mind but who cares.

One for the heads on here to discuss.
The Grateful Dead were hugely popular in the States but never really caught on here in the same way. I've always put it down the reason being none of the fuckers could sing. And this is borne out by the fact that over the years they had three 'lead singers' all of who were shit.
I quite like some of their material but it's all marred by the singing.

Dylan or Cohen couldn't sing but fuck me they could write a tune, the problem with Yoko was she couldn't sing, play an instrument or write, totally fucking useless in fact

Apart form Linda McCartney (who wasn't a good singer, but she was only backup) this is a classic "I don't like" = "can't sing" list.
It would be so easy to prove you wrong, but I honestly can't be arsed.
